Season of the Splicer’s new Override activity pits a team of six Guardians against the Vex in a mission to infiltrate and purge a Subjugated Mind from the Vex Network. The mission takes place on a few different locations in Destiny 2, and now finds itself on the Tangled Shore.
In Season of the Splicer, the Vex have plunged the Last City into an Endless Night, which can only be stopped by learning more about the Vex with the help of Eliksni Kell of Light Mithrax. If any Destiny 2 players want to challenge even more powerful Vex, they can face Atheon in the reprised Vault of Glass Raid.
As with Override: Europa, six Guardians will be matchmade together and sent to the Shore to fight the Scorn and Vex and open a way to the Vex Network in Override: The Tangled Shore. At the end, players will need to defeat a Vex Hydra Subjugated Mind known as Thesmotae which uses barriers to narrow the arena.
Override: The Tangled Shore follows the same format as the other Override missions where players need to gather and deposit Motes into the Conflux Terminal and defend it from blockers until a gateway into the Vex Network can be opened. From there, players need to navigate through a short jumping puzzle which leads to a portal for the final boss arena. Splicer Gauntlet upgrades can help Guardians by making both of these sections easier.
When players arrive on the other side of the Vex portal, they will immediately notice that there are two large Vex barriers that block off the left and right sides of the arena, making it a narrow strip with a pillar in the middle which Thesmotae usually hides behind at first.
All players need to deal damage to Thesmotae until it reaches its first immune phase when a third of its health bar is gone. Supers and heavy weapons will shred through Thesmotae’s health quickly, especially a weapon like the Deathbringer Exotic Rocket Launcher which can hit Vex Hydras from above, making their shields quite useless.
Unlike Portunos in Override: The Moon, Destiny 2 players will not be teleported to another location in this fight. Thesmotae will instead shield itself and teleport behind the right-side barrier first. At the same time, three shielded Vex cubes will spawn in the air and a Hobgoblin Scytale Champion will spawn towards the far end of the boss arena.
Players need to defeat the Champion to lower the defenses on the cubes, and then destroy the cubes to bring down the barrier between the players and Thesmotae. The Scytale Champion will also drop a Data Spike which can be deposited to give all players boosted ability regeneration through the Splicer’s Will buff. Now that the arena has expanded to include the right side, plenty of additional Vex will start spawning, including Cyclopes and Soterian Minotaurs.
Destiny 2 players need to damage Thesmotae again to force it into another immune phase, causing it to teleport behind the left barrier. Players need to repeat the previous steps for the other barrier to open up the whole arena to get to and finally defeat Thesmotae.
Players can now open the Vex Chest and use a Key Code to open the Conflux Chest for extra loot and Decrypted Data.
