Tottenham press conference live: Ryan Mason on Gareth Bale, Son Heung-min, Lo Celso and VAR
The Tottenham Hotspur interim head coach is talking to the press following the 4-0 victory against Sheffield United in the Premier League on Sunday
Ryan Mason is speaking to the media following Tottenham Hotspur's 4-0 win against Sheffield United in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
Tottenham were looking to put their Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City behind them as they hosted the already relegated United.
They took their time to break through the lines of the resolute visitors from Sheffield but when they did it was a goal with real quality,
With nine minutes left of the first half Serge Aurier chipped a pinpoint pass over the United defence for the running Gareth Bale to deftly flick the ball over goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Early in the second period, Son Heung-min clinically netted from Toby Alderweireld's long ball over the top early in the second half only for VAR to rule it offside by the tightest of margins.
VAR had already been involved in deciding what looked like a stamp from John Fleck on Giovani Lo Celso's head.
The second goal did arrive when Son sent Bale clear and the Welshman emphatically slammed his shot into the top right corner of the net.
Bale completed his hat-trick with 20 minutes to go with a clinical low finish past the goalkeeper.
Son was not to be denied his goal and curled a wonderful effort in off the right-hand post after cutting inside from Steven Bergwijn's pass.
