International Flights From Dallas

What is with the Southwest Airlines headquarters? I was wondering if it's a good thing that Southwest Airlines has their headquarters located in Houston, Texas. I mean, they fly out of that area all the time right? Well, it could be one of the reasons, but I have no clue. No one seems to know why they do it, but I suppose it does make sense.

Southwest Airlines has just made a very important announcement. They are adding an International Airport to their fleet. The new International Airport will be located in Boeing, FL. If you do a search for Southwest Airlines flights in Boeing, you will find that they have very few available flights. Not enough to really fill up the building though, so they will probably add another flight in the near future.

So, if Southwest Airlines has a building at the edge of the Great Plains then why does it need to move their headquarters to Houston, Texas? Does it make sense that they have a large operations center in Texas? Well, it could be that they don't want to have to fly all the way back to Chicago Midway International Airport every time they fly to some city in the Midwest. After all if they have a huge building and operational control room, why would they need to go down south to get to Chicago?

Southwest Airlines Headquarters began operating from the Chicago Midway International Airport in 1966. At that time it was called Chicago Midway International Airport. Over the years since then it has expanded to serve passengers from thirty airports in twenty-eight states. It's main problem with not having a direct flight to their main facility is the high cost of fuel. It costs over seven dollars per gallon in Chicago and over ten dollars a gallon in Kansas City, Kansas.
