Put your keyword list together before drafting your ads.
Make your keywords very specific, in order to prevent people from clicking your ad when they are not looking for your product.
Remember to keep your adgroups small and focused. (Adgroups are the groups of keywords for which you write one ad.). This can't be repeated often enough - it's one of the main secrets of successful ppc marketing. The bigger your adgroups are, the less directly relevant your ads will be, so the more they will cost you in untargeted clicks.
Include the main keyword for each adgroup in the ad headline. It will show up in bold type and will really attract people to click on it.
Test two ads at the same time. Google allows you to run two ads at the same time with each adgroup. Track them carefully and as soon as one is clearly doing less well than the other, replace it.
Put your ads in square brackets to make sure your ads only appear for those exact phrases.
Remember to include both singular and plural versions of keywords. Create separate adgroups for your misspellings list, your abbreviations list etc.
