5 Things You Need to Do This Winter in Whistler

If you’re looking at Whistler homes for sale, know you’re looking at a big ski town with a huge tourist season.

This British Columbia living area is known for its friendly inhabitants and plentiful things to do. While it’s a great place to be year-round, it truly shines when the temperatures dip and the snow starts to fall.

Here are some of the best things to do in Whistler this winter.

Shred the slopes

There is absolutely no shortage of ski slopes to choose from in this town.

Skiers and snowboarders alike clamor to head down Whistler Blackcomb. These mountains have over 8,100 acres of slopes that include 16 alpine bowls, three glaciers, and world-class terrain parks. There are over 200 marked trails

Not a skier or snowboard but want to learn? You can learn from world-class instructors that’ll have you gliding on the snow in no time.

Even if you are a seasoned skier or snowboarder, there are still classes and instructors available to help you challenge your already-honed skill set.

Ride the gondola

Your best bet is to do the Peak 2 Peak experience that takes you between both Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.

This glass-bottom gondola gives 360 views of Whistler Village and the beautiful nature that surrounds it, like glaciers, lakes, and forests.

Enjoy the arts and culture

While there are many fun things to do outside, there’s a lot of indoor activity that’ll keep you entertained as well.

The Audain Art Museum hosts a permanent collection of artworks from British Columbia, and exhibitions from leading museums worldwide.

Vallea Lumina is a multimedia night walk with an immersive light show that’s perfect for all ages.

The Whistler Museum lets you discover the area’s history and culture and includes interactive activities.

Most importantly, check out the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, is the first of its kind in the country that’s located on the shared territories of the Squamish Nation and Lil’wat Nation.

Unwind at the spa

The Scandinave Spa is a 20,000-square-foot facility that is an outdoor spa. It’s Nordic inspired, surrounded by spruce and cedar forest.

Spa goers first experience heat, through euculpyus steam baths, two types of saunas, or a hot bath. They are then plunged into cold with a Nordic waterfall, shower, or plunge bath.

The experience is rounded out with relaxation in a hammock, by a fireplace lounge, or even through a yoga session.

Soar to new heights

One unique way to experience Whistler in all its snow covered glory is by a bird’s-eye view in a helicopter.

Blackcomb Helicopters is the most noted tour company in the area, running for over 30 years.

You can take 15, 25, or 40 minute tours over the area.

You can even combine a flight with more adventure. Make a day of it and opt to stop to picnic, paddle, hike, fish, or ski.

If you’re looking for a unique spot to hold an event, Blackcomb Helicopters will fly you out to a glacier, mountain peak, or even lake for a unique setting.
