A UK-based company, Zavvi sells Blu-rays and DVDs, clothing and accessories, and other collectibles from many popular franchises such as Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, Harry Potter, and Pokemon. The store also has an in-house team of clothing designers that enable it to offer unique, limited-edition pop culture items, including for video games like The Legend of Zelda and Apex Legends.
Recently, Zavvi announced the imminent release of an exclusive, limited-edition collection of Pokemon clothing in celebration of the franchise’s 25th anniversary. The collection will center around one of the stars of series, Pikachu, and will go on sale on the Zavvi website on February 27, beginning at 12 p.m. UK time.
The launch of the different items in the Pokemon collection will be staggered. First to become available will be the Pokemon Box Collection at noon, which will contain four exclusive items: a black hoodie, black embroidered socks, a black ball cap, and a white printed cosmetics bag. The Pokemon Box Collection will be limited to 2500 available units, and each item will be marked with a 25th anniversary Pikachu logo.
Launching at 3 p.m. UK time is the Pokemon Mini Collection, which will contain the same black hoodie as the Pokemon Box Collection as well as a white sweatshirt and a Pikachu-yellow t-shirt. The Pokemon Pikachu 25th Black Adult Signature High Top, a limited-edition handcrafted canvas Pikachu high-top sneaker, will become available for interested buyers at 6 p.m. UK time.
Although the UK site is the only version of the Zavvi storefront that seems to have announced the exclusive collection, the items will be available for shipment worldwide. There is no indication of prices for any of the items in the collection.
For those Pokemon fans who miss out on the exclusive 25th anniversary collection, there are still some original items available from last year’s release as well as a number of other, less exclusive articles of clothing. Last year’s collection included a Pikachu-yellow t-shirt and sweatshirt, a blue Squirtle acid wash t-shirt, a black Mewtwo oversized t-shirt, and a black Psyduck hoodie.
The Zavvi store will also be launching a die-cast Poke Ball replica on April 30, which can be pre-ordered for £99.99. The item is a numbered collectible that has been officially licensed by The Pokemon Company International. It has an engineered metal shell, a painted finish, a glowing multicolor button that is powered by batteries, and comes in a metallic display box.
After three months of basically nonstop events and festivities, the Pokemon GO Season of Celebration is coming to a close. This marks the end of the first ever branded season in the mobile AR game and also triggers the first seasonal transition later this week. When February comes to a close, so to will the Season of Celebration, and it will be time for players to ring in the start of the Season of Legends in the game.
The Season of Legends sounds incredibly exciting and is full of very tempting new Pokedex entries, wild spawn rotations, and other changes that Pokemon GO players will be able to enjoy in the coming months. With that said, some casual players may be a bit confused about what exactly this change means and what seasons are in PoGO. Luckily, it's fairly simple and not even something that casual fans really need to concern themselves with all that much.
