Valheim Player Impresses By Catching Fish While Riding a Deer

Teaching a man to fish may feed them for life but teaching a man to fish while on a deer will get them respect across Reddit. Such is the case with u/Th3R3alZero who showed off an impressive clip of just that feat on the Valheim Reddit page.

Valheim is a Viking survival RPG in which players gather materials, fight enemies, and take on bosses to prove their worth to the Norse Gods. As with most survival games, players have worked their hardest to find ways to ease the burden of farming materials and find the weird moments the game can accidentally create and this clip is a prime example of a player keeping themselves entertained between major updates.

The Valheim Reddit page has become home to many weird and wild clips and builds since the game's Early Access debut at the beginning of February. This unique fishing technique comes from u/Th3R3alZero and sees the player reel in a fish while standing atop a swimming deer. Deer in the game are easily spooked and will run when players get too close and even take to the water to flee. As this Valheim player suggests in the comments, jumping on a swimming deer is a simple enough feat, but it looks like fishing at the same time requires a lot of things to go right.

While players wait for Valheim's first major update, titled Hearth and Home, they have been exploring the huge world and perfecting the art of farming all kinds of materials in the game. While fishing on a deer isn't the same as the numerous fish farms and Greydwarf farms that have cropped up, it is the perfect example of players finding the hidden fun in a game. The journey through this Viking-purgatory is supposed to be a hard-fought story of survival but players have found the silver lining.

As with most of the clips on the Valheim page, this one definitely deserves respect from fellow players. Finding deer near enough fish to accomplish this task is a roll of the dice and landing on the deer in just the right way must have taken some practice. The game within the game is on display here and, like other survival titles with a building mechanic, what makes the game more exciting is the freedom players are given to make their own fun.

Some players may think this is just a case of a game ripe for an update and that clips like this one point to boredom that persists once the main bosses have been defeated. For now, though, players will have to wait on the Hearth and Home update as its release date remains unknown. Perhaps they can try their hand at fishing on a deer.

Clubs are a completely unique class of weapons in Valheim. There are six one-handed clubs in the game, and a couple of two-handed options that deal AOE damage to enemies. It is difficult to rank them together because there are a number of relevant factors to analyze. The one handed clubs are straightforward bash weapons that deal most of their damage with blunt force. They also have the highest parry force compared to the other weapons in the game.
