Titanfall 2 Player Breaks Gauntlet Speedrun Record

Titanfall 2 speed runs usually fall into two broad categories: completing the campaign, and completing the Gauntlet at the start of the game. After a speedrunner recently took the number 1 spot for The Gauntlet, the deposed long-reigning champion returned and took the record back within a matter of weeks.

Cash Mayo uploaded their original record-breaking run of 11.7 seconds for Titanfall 2's Gauntlet in October 2019, a record that would be held for about a year and a half, although plenty tried to beat it. On April 2021 22, the record was finally broken by fellow speedrunner WhateverShoe who claimed an 11.2-second-long run in the Gauntlet. However, just over a week later on May 1, 2021, Cash Mayo came back and barely took back the world record with a run of 11.1 seconds. In total, Cash Mayo has beaten the world record seven times since Titanfall 2 was released.

While the strategies and inputs used by tool-assisted speed runs are generally impossible for humans to replicate, there's a good chance this isn't the last time the world record for Titanfall 2's Gauntlet will be broken.
