Pokemon GO: All Luminous Legends Y Field Research Tasks and Rewards

The newest event to come to Pokemon GO is the Luminous Legends Y event. This event is a sequel to the Luminous Legends X event and will be running from May 18th at 10:00 AM to May 24th at 8:00 PM in players' local times.
While this event is active in Pokemon GO, players will find themselves encountering members of Team GO Rocket far more often than usual. Because of this, the majority of the timed research tasks and field research tasks revolve around Team GO Rocket and Shadow Pokemon.
Players can pick up the field research tasks for the Luminous Legends Y event by spinning Pokestops while also having an empty spot for a new field research task. One task can be obtained per Pokestop within a day with there being seven total event-exclusive tasks for this event that can be obtained.
All of the field research tasks for this event offer players a Pokemon encounter as a reward. Out of all the Pokemon that can be encountered this way, only Murkrow, Skorupi, Houndour, and Alolan Meowth have the chance to be encountered in their shiny forms. If 25 million Team GO Rocket grunts are defeated before the event's end via the entire player-base however, the shiny forms of Galarian Zigzagoon, Galarian Linoone, and Obstagoon will be added to the game after the event.
The field research tasks that can be gotten during the Luminous Legends Y event are:

Catch five Shadow Pokemon - Skorupi encounter

Purify five Shadow Pokemon - Spritzee or Swirlix encounter

Defeat two Team GO Rocket Grunts - Murkrow, Purrloin, or Houndour encounter

Defeat five Team GO Rocket Grunts - Alolan Meowth encounter

Defeat a Team GO Rocket Leader - Galarian Zigzagoon encounter

Win two raids - Scraggy encounter

AR Mapping - Galarian Zigzagoon encounter

Of the Pokemon rewarded for completing field research tasks, Murkrow, Houndour, Spritzee, and Swirlix can be found among the increased wild spawn rates for this event. Additionally, Alolan Meowth and Purrloin can be hatched from 7km eggs obtained during this event. However, it is much easier to obtain the latter Pokemon via the field research tasks.

By completing a field research task seven times over the course of seven days, players can earn the field research breakthrough Pokemon via an encounter. For May 2021, this Pokemon is Galarian Ponyta, a pure Psychic-type Pokemon. It shares candy amounts with Kantonian Ponyta and can be evolved into Galarian Rapidash via 50 Ponyta candies. Both normal field research tasks and event field research tasks can go toward the research breakthrough.

The second half of this month's Harry Potter: Wizards Unite brilliant event festivities has arrived! Today marks the start of May 2021's second brilliant event window, which means witches and wizards have yet another massive lineup of tasks to complete, rewards to claim, and bonuses to enjoy. Part two of the May 2021 event will be a weeklong festivity and there are some powerful rewards on the table for anyone who successfully completes the long list of tasks and bonus assignments.

This month's Harry Potter Wizards Unite Brilliant Event activities are split into two-parts, like usual, and the theme is Creature Discomforts. Niantic fans are likely well aware of how the brilliant events play out at this point, but it never hurts to have a quick refresher. Wizards Unite fans have a full week to take advantage of the event's limited time bonuses and work towards reaching the end of a long list of tasks. Players who manage that challenge and also complete the Bonus Assignment will have earned a ton of high value rewards that make the event well worth the time investment.
