As with most looter-shooters, the endgame in Outriders is the time for players to truly test their skills and grind for the best gear in the game. Outriders' Expeditions offer individual players or teams the chance to run some of the toughest enemy gauntlets in the game with Challenge Tiers up to rank 15. Although these Expeditions can sometimes breed a toxic environment where griefers kick other players before they can grab loot, a recent video shows the positive outcomes that can result from a cohesive Outriders team.
When players aren't struggling with multiplayer stability and connection issues in Outriders, team play highlights the strengths of the frantic shooter action in the game. Groups of three can team up with different class combinations to make Expedition runs as smooth as possible, but top-notch communication between players can lead to some amazing outcomes. In this case, a coordinated team consisting of a Devastator, Pyromancer, and Trickster were able to stack debuffs on a Wasteland Behemoth so that the Trickster could land a single shot for over 179 million damage.
In a video posted to Reddit by user xXSun-Ken_RockXx, this team of three sends a ton of abilities into the Wasteland Behemoth before the Trickster simply puts one shotgun shell in the creature's head for 179,769,232 damage. User zhab_gaming is the Devastator in the group and explains in the comments the coordination required for the team to pull this off. Essentially, the group makes excellent use of many different debuffs in Outriders and stacks around 13 of them before the fatal shot.
User xXSun-Ken_RockXx claims that this is a new single-shot damage record in Outriders, but others in the comments are skeptical. Some claim to have seen numbers over 400 million in other videos or claim to have hit over 300 million themselves. One user even shares a video of a Trickster apparently hitting over 200 million on a Juggernaut Captain.
Even if the 179 million damage shot isn't a record, it's still an impressive coordination effort. The triple Heatwave and double Thermal bomb combo used by the Pyromancer is a popular debuff series also used in another video of a single shot kill on the Outriders endgame final boss for over 49 million damage. In both cases, teams had to stack multiple status effects on their targets including ash, vulnerable, and bleed.
Although Tricksters seem capable of the highest damage output in the game, getting giant damage numbers is just one way to enjoy Outriders. Some of Outriders' best builds and mods are often overlooked in favor of others that maximize damage output, and for players simply looking to power up their favorite abilities, there are loads of combos to experiment with. Hopefully People Can Fly continue their efforts to balance the game properly and make a variety of builds viable for endgame challenges.
Outriders is quite rich in terms of lore, and thanks to journal pages players can learn a lot of insightful information about characters they meet along the way, or even characters they'll never cross paths with. It is also a game of mysteries, and its story does deliver in terms of building up to the revealing scenes, the plot twists, the emotionally charged deaths, and the advancing of the plot.
