Next Pokemon Build-a-Bear Plush Revealed

Since the announcement that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be working with Build-a-Bear to make ACNH plushies, it seems the demand for these specific stuffed toys is reaching an all-time high. The company has even had to refresh stocks of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons items, showcasing just how popular these products are. Now, The Pokemon Company is partnering again with Build-a-Bear to add more Pokemon to its roster, but this time it is featuring Scorbunny, one of the starters in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Though Build-a-Bear already has an existing lineup of Pokemon toys, this is the first time that it will produce one for the latest video game title. Some of the Pokemon found in the Build-a-Bear collection include Pikachu, Eevee, Mew, Psyduck, and even Eevee’s evolutions such as Flareon, Vaporeon, and Jolteon. The most recent addition to the stuffed toy collection was the Kanto Dragon-Type Pokemon Dragonite, which was announced late in 2020.

Though not announced on official channels yet, Build-a-Bear shared news about adding Scorbunny to its video game stuffed toy lineup by emailing the members of Inside Stuff Bonus Club. The news shared that the plushie will be available in physical stores and as an online bundle starting May 6, 2021. How much the toy will cost, as well as the accessories in the bundle, has not been officially disclosed by the company yet. However, the item prices on the official Build-a-Bear site go for around $55-65 USD, so Pokemon Sword and Shield fans should expect to shell out that much.

For the online only bundle, the Fire-Type Pokemon Scorbunny will come with a set of flame-themed sleepwear, a cape, as well as a sound chip that imitates Scorbunny's cries from Pokemon Sword and Shield. Fans will likely enjoy having this toy as part of their personal collection, especially if they have already built a selection of Sword and Shield plushies released by The Pokemon Company since the game's launch.

Given that there are three starters in Sword and Shield, Pokemon fans are likely hopeful that more of their favorites from the latest game will be included in the lineup soon. Hopefully Grass-Type Grookey and Water-Type Sobble will appear on shelves and online in the near future. With Build-a-Bear's current popularity, interested buyers and collectors should make sure to check the official site and stores in order to purchase the Scorbunny plushie as soon as it is available. Given the demand, there is still the chance for this item to easily sell out, just like the Animal Crossing products.

The Pokemon games have a lot of moving parts. While the games are relatively simple, they contain various elements to help keep individual battles interesting. One of those aspects is the type system. At its core, it is a complex version of rock-paper-scissors. However, the existence of Pokemon types allows for designers to have a guideline when creating new 'Mons. As such, the various types tend to have similar aspects shared between fellow 'Mons.

This allows fans to further use these types to explain their own personal quirks. There have been a few Twitter trends involving getting friends to assign a type combination to the poster. It's a fun little exercise and serves as a great lead into applying them to Zodiac signs.
