Lord of the Rings Online Player Maxes Their Level Making Pies

The vast majority of players of any MMORPG, particularly one revolving around a magical world like Tolkien's Middle-Earth, probably don't intend to spend the majority of their time engaging in common housework. However, that's just what one Lord of the Rings Online player did, managing to reach the absolute maximum level their character could be without spending their time questing and adventuring.

These days, the majority of MMORPGs provide ways of gaining experience points with classes and quests unrelated to combat. However, that doesn't make them the most opportune way to level up - oftentimes far from it - and such was the case when one LOTR Online Hobbit decided baking pies would be how they would make their way to max level.

Lord of the Rings Online player Cookingwithsim spent a stunning eight months working towards the maximum level of 130 in the game. Appropriately playing as a food-loving Hobbit, who are in part commonly known for their unwillingness to go on adventures, their sole method of making experience points was to bake pies. Acquiring the necessary 205,829,281 experience points was no easy feat, and the gamer had become well-known enough on their Evernight server that they had a crowd as they reached the goal of level 130.

According to Cookingwithsim, they were averaging anywhere between 10,000 and 15,000 pies per day. This level of dedication is impressive, even among other MMORPG players, though it's not completely unheard of. One similarly dedicated player managed to reach max level in World of Warcraft by picking flowers, living a perfectly passive life in the process.

While the vast majority of MMORPG players likely value their time and strive to achieve experience points in the most enjoyable and reliable way possible, the self-induced challenges that arise from making the most of a game's mechanics will likely follow wherever a challenging game exists.

For now, it remains to be seen what Cookingwithsim will do with themselves after reaching their goal. However, Lord of the Rings Online is still going strong, even after all of these years. The game has a rumored visual upgrade coming in the future, as well as a recently leaked new class. While the other Lord of the Rings MMORPG from Amazon has been canceled, it doesn't seem like this one is going anywhere anytime soon, especially so long as players take it upon themselves to find new ways of entertaining themselves, like Cookingwithsim did.

Amazon's upcoming Lord of the Rings MMO has been cancelled, causing a mixture of feelings among fans. The MMO was announced back in 2018, with Amazon's involvement revealed the next year, but not much was really known about the project itself, despite it presumably being in development for a couple of years, at this point.

Though not much was known about the ill-fated game itself, details about the Lord of the Rings MMO's cancellation seem to be pretty clear.

Amazon was working on the project with Athlon Games, owned by Leyou, which was acquired by none other than Tencent Holdings in December of last year. This apparently threw the terms of which the game was being worked on into turmoil. This eventually caused the cancellation of the game, with the developers working on it moving onto various other projects.
