As Jessica Parker Kennedy's Nora West-Allen, a.k.a. XS, is officially returning to the Arrowverse in The Flash season 7, the show will be able to do her very differently post-Crisis on Infinite Earths. When it was announced that Jordan Fisher had been cast as Bart Allen, a.k.a. Impulse, but as Iris West-Allen and Barry Allen's son, it left many wondering what it meant for their daughter Nora. Since XS changed the timeline, Nora got herself erased in The Flash season 5, as her history was altered. After alluding to a version of Nora still existing in the future in The Flash season 6, The CW confirmed XS's return for the 150th episode, which is when Impulse is making his debut. Nora will also be around for an unspecified amount of episodes, hinting her return will be significant.
While Nora's return is a mystery, one thing for sure is how The Flash will be able to depict XS differently after the aftermath of the fifth season, but more importantly, reemerging in a post-Crisis Arrowverse. The primary reason why Nora traveled from 2049 into the past was to meet the father she never got to know. In the original timeline, Barry was supposed to vanish on April 25, 2024, the day the initial Crisis would take place. But since the Crisis ended up happening five years earlier, it also changed The Flash's fate. While the Earth-1 Barry survived, his Earth-90 doppelganger took his place and sacrificed himself. Since Earth-Prime's Flash never vanished like he was supposed to, it changes everything about Nora's upbringing and how she will be as an adult.
The largest aspect of Nora's life without Barry is her complicated relationship with her mother. Because she lost the love of her life, Iris was worried about their daughter following Flash's footsteps, risking Nora to a similar fate like Barry. That is why Iris had a power-dampening chip planted inside Nora's shoulder, which she only discovered after an accident with the Arrowverse character Godspeed fried the chip. It was the reason Nora was cold to 2018-Iris, heartbroken her mother would keep this a secret as it was the only connection Nora had to her late father. While they eventually did grow closer before XS vanished in The Flash season 5, Crisis has erased that from their future. Since Barry is alive in the future, Nora probably never had her speed suppressed for most of her life.
Without their conflict in the future, The Flash season 7 will allow Nora and Iris to have a more positive daughter/mother relationship, even stronger than before. Because Nora will have grown up having had her father around, her relationship with Eobard Thawne, a.k.a. Reverse-Flash, will also be removed from the equation. Since Barry could be the one to help XS master her speed, Nora never had to get desperate and ask Eobard for his guidance like in the pre-Crisis timeline. The other apparent new change to post-Crisis Nora will be the fact that she has a brother now. Since the Arrowverse description for Bart Allen teases him as "the fastest teenager on the planet," it makes Nora Impulse's big sister, unless there is a secret twist where they are in fact The CW's iteration of the Tornado Twins.
Aside from changes to Nora's history and relationships, there is the possibility of maybe a new XS costume or at least an upgrade to some degree. While it was always a given Nora would be different the next time she popped up on The Flash, it is still exciting XS is coming back, together with Impulse. It will be interesting to see what other changes the writers may have added to Nora's history. Thanks to Crisis on Infinite Earths, The Flash will have a big Flash Family reunion with Iris and Barry having both Nora and Bart visit their parents from the future.
