Godfall Could Be Coming to Unexpected Platform

Godfall may not have made much of an impact when it launched late last year, but the game is still notable for being one of the first PlayStation 5 console exclusive games ever revealed to the public. Since its launch, Godfall has remained a PS5 console exclusive game, with no versions of it announced for any other platforms. But with Godfall being a timed-PS5 exclusive and not a permanent one, the general assumption is that the game would be coming to competing platforms like the Xbox Series X eventually.

What Godfall fans may not have expected, however, is the game coming to a console like the PlayStation 4 instead. While a Godfall PS4 port has not been confirmed at the time of this writing, Twisted Voxel has spotted a PEGI rating indicating that a PS4 version of the looter-slasher game could very well be on the way. This would be a surprising move, as Godfall has been pushed as one of the truly next-gen games.
If Godfall does make its way to the PlayStation 4, it would likely be receiving a serious downgrade. The PlayStation 5 version of Godfall runs at 60 frames per second at 4K resolution, which will not be possible on the PS4. Not only that, but Godfall on PS5 uses the DualSense controller's unique features like haptic feedback, which would also be lost in a PS4 port of the game.
With Godfall's PS5 exclusivity window reportedly coming to a close on May 12, it makes sense that publisher Gearbox is looking to bring it to other platforms, though it is a bit surprising that PS4 is apparently part of the lineup. Notably, the PEGI rating found by Twisted Voxel doesn't even list Godfall ports for Xbox One or Xbox Series X, so it seems as though the game may very well stay within the PlayStation family of consoles for the time being.

Fans of Godfall should have more to look forward to besides ports to other platforms. Counterplay Games has confirmed that Godfall is getting matchmaking, which will go a long way in addressing one of the main criticisms that people had about the game when it originally launched.
