God of War is one of the most beloved and recognizable video game franchises to ever exist. Following the release of God of War (2018), the series popularity reached new heights and allowed newcomers to God of War an easy access point. Now, one fan has expressed their appreciation for the franchise in the form of an awesome, cross-over fan creation.
Ever since the release of God of War (2018), fans of the series have managed to express themselves in a variety of ways. Whether that's through cosplay or fan art or fan creations, there is a lot that the community has gotten up to over the years. One talented individual managed to create a talking, animatronic Mimir head from the latest game in the series. Though, this newest fan creation is impressive, simply due to its unexpected form factor.
A Reddit user by the name of BlueForceSabers built a God of War themed lightsaber from Star Wars. The saber's hilt is very similar to the hilt of the Leviathan Axe, which is used prominently all throughout God of War (2018). Although, the color of the saber has this red/orange glow, which is similar to that of the Blades of Chaos, which were the primary weapons featured in the original God of War trilogy.
Within the last couple of years especially, there has been so much crossover work in terms of God of War. The amount of fan-art that features God of War insertions on some level has been astounding. There was even a piece of cross-over art that Kratos drawn in Hades' art style. The sheer volume of God of War inspired work to come from its community of fans is extremely exciting to witness for many.
Although, perhaps this surge of God of War themed fan creations could be the result of all the hype surrounding the game's sequel. God of War Ragnarok has been teased for a number of months now, but fans still have no idea when they can expect to see even a trailer for the game, let alone gameplay or a release date.
Perhaps a Sony State of Play during the same timeframe as E3 2021 will allow fans of the series a glimpse of what God of War Ragnarok has to offer, but as it is right now, nothing is certain. In any case, it will be interesting to see what the future holds in terms of God of War. The 2018 PS4 game could very well be the first in a new trilogy of games.
Sony’s latest God of War title introduces a new weapon for Kratos called the Leviathan Axe. The weapon functions a lot like Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, in that it can be thrown at enemies (or puzzle elements) and recalled with the press of a button.
However, the main function of the Leviathan Axe in God of War is carnage and mayhem. Kratos uses the axe to dispatch all number of baddies, from the lowly Draugr all the way up to massive trolls. And as he upgrades the axe, Kratos will unlock new move sets and abilities, which will make defeating enemies even easier.
To upgrade the Leviathan Axe, players will need to collect Frozen Flame, a consumable that drops at specific points throughout God of War’s story. Getting the axe to level 5 will happen as gamers play through the game, so there is no need to worry about missing out. Once you have a Frozen Flame simply head to Brok or Sindri, the two dwarven blacksmiths in the game, and purchase the Leviathan Axe upgrade.
