For many Call of Duty: Warzone fans, today marks an important step for the long term health of the game. A patch went live earlier today that addresses a number of frustrating issues inside the game including removing the RC-XD from buy stations, fixing the no-glint sniper scope bug, adjusting weapons like the FFAR 1 and Tactical Rifle Charlie, and many more.
For many fans, the defining element to this large update are changes to the Sykov pistols, which have proven to be a big source of frustration for the community over how powerful the weapons are. These fully automatic pistols with attachments that allow the pistol to fire 80 rounds before needing to reload became even stronger when dual wielded. The time to kill was already incredibly small, but with the adjustments made in this update, Raven has attempted to reduce the damage by 25% only when certain attachments are paired.
While the jury is still out on whether or not these adjustments will be enough, fans have already discovered another major issue with these weapons thanks to a new exploit. The latest discovery was made by Call of Duty: Warzone streamer Stukawaki who entered a Plunder match with akimbo Sykov pistols. After parachuting down and landing, Stu then tests the guns by firing at a nearby house and sure enough, the rapid fire bullets fire in a direct line with zero recoil impacting the shots. Considering that recoil is the weapon's one major drawback, this exploit essentially removes that weakness and turns the gun into a laser blaster. What's also a bit strange is that the UI appears to only display one pistol's ammo instead of the two that are actually equipped.
While the glitch was found prior to the update, the game's subReddit has started to see new posts pop up indicating that the glitch is still active. In one clip captured of Iceman Isaac and put up on the subReddit, the akimbo Sykov player lands and immediately wipes out a number of enemies with the rapid fire, 100% accuracy pistols. It's unclear if Plunder is triggering this glitch, as most of the examples typically take place in this Warzone game mode. Whatever the case may be, it looks like Raven will need to reexamine these still overpowered and controversial weapons.
While these pistols will likely remain a thorn in the side of gamers, even if it is just potentially in Plunder, the other major concern for fans remains the Rook skin for Roze. The skin continues to cause balancing related problems as its dark colors making spotting it inside the typical fast paced combat extremely difficult compared to other operator skins. The unfair advantage it gives has led many prominent players to request a change, one that Raven is intent on delivering. However, a timeframe and details on this adjustment remain a mystery.
Most of the news dropped following the premiere of the "Stories from the Outlands" trailer, which gave a full eight minutes of backstory to the new Legend Valkyrie, otherwise known as Kairi Imahara. Now, EA has updated the Apex Legends website with tidbits of information detailing some of the new content coming to the game next season, which Respawn is simply calling "Legacy."
