If they see you exuding strength, then they'll feel confident in your ability to make the right decisions for both the company and them. Remember, perception is everything. Even if you feel the opposite, show strength and confidence.

Incentives are a great way to improve output. Everyone receives a salary of course, but incentives can be an extra motivation. If an employee goes above and beyond, show them that you see it and encourage it with some sort of bonus or gift. The best leaders reward their employees well.

Surround yourself with smart people. The best leaders out there all know one thing: when you've got the best people, you'll elevate everything. Don't think you need to be the smartest person in the company. Far from it. You need to be a visionary who sees greatness. Use that and find the best colleagues to surround yourself with.

You can be a great leader or a manager if you take a little time every day to look at how everything is doing in your workplace. Ask some team members for their observations, also. Suggestions should be welcomed and discussed.

Have a clear vision of what you want to accomplish with your business in the short term and the long term. You and your employees will be better able to stay on course when everyone understands your vision so make sure they understand it. Make small changes when necessary but always stay focused on your vision.

Communication is important in any team. Ensure that they are on the right track at all times. If there is a failure in the communication channel to key players, then this will prove to be counterproductive to the goals the team is trying to accomplish. Bad communication also manages to make you look weak and foolish.
