How to Install Inside Mount Faux Wood Blinds

  1. Position the mounting hardware flush against the top of the window frame or well. The headrail should be set back far enough that the blinds will not stick out too far from the wall, but not so far back that the blind slats will hit the window when tilted open. If your blinds came with a valance, you will need to set the blinds back a little farther in order to accommodate it. If your windows are very skinny but you still want to inside mount your window treatments, consider 1-inch faux wood blinds in Surrey.

  2. Use a leveler to ensure that it is completely straight, and mark the edges using a pencil. Grab the brackets, line them up with the pencil marks, and mark the holes for the screws.

  3. Create pilot holes using a drill bit. If you don’t have a power drill, you can create pilot holes in the wall by tapping a nail in partway with a hammer and then pulling it out. Make sure to choose a nail with a smaller diameter than the screw; you don’t want to make the pilot hole too big.

  4. Align the first bracket with the pencil marks and insert the screws into the wall using either a screwdriver or a power drill. Repeat this process for the mounting bracket on the other side. If your blinds came with a center bracket, do this a third time; you may have to mount the bracket slightly off-center so it doesn’t interfere with the mounting mechanism at the top.

  5. If your blinds came with valance clips, go ahead and attach those to the headrail before mounting. Be sure to space them out so they don’t interfere with any mechanisms.

  6. Slide the headrail into the brackets. Close the bracket covers until they snap into place. The blinds should now be secure in the brackets and should not move around.

  7. Snap the valance into the pre-installed clips and adjust as needed.

  8. Test your new blinds by slowly raising and lowering them, as well as tilting the slats back and forth when the blinds are fully extended. Remember that you should never tug on the blinds or put excessive weight on them, no matter how securely you installed them.

Make sure to choose a nail with a smaller diameter than the screw; you don’t want to make the pilot hole too big. If you are not drilling the blinds hardware into a stud, you might need to use drywall anchors to hold it up.
