Honor Band 5 Full Review In 2021- Should You Buy It?
Honor has been a leader in the wearables industry for many years, with five generations of smart bands under the belt. The Honor Band 5 is a rational development of the Honor Band 4 smartwatch or fitness tracker; on paper, it retains all of the core features while enhancing battery life and incorporating activity monitoring. We've invested some time with the device and are now able to share our thoughts on it.
Design:
With the Band 4, Honor added a colored frame, and the Band 5 holds it - it has a 0.95" AMOLED display with 2.5D curved glass. Since it is a touchscreen, you can access the watch face or toggle it on by pressing the button below. If you choose, you can still use the raise-to-wake method.
The simple heart rate sensor is on the bottom, and it now works all the time if you turn it on; previous Honor Band versions did not allow continuous heart monitoring. This watch has no physical buttons, but it is larger than a typical exercise tracker. You won't worry, however, because it's incredibly small - 22.7 grams, and you won't notice on your wrist.
Unboxing:
You get a little watch with a rubbery band and a patented charging adapter, much like all inexpensive smart bands. Unlike the Mi Smart Band 4, the Honor Band 5 cannot be removed from the strap. When charging the Honor Band, make sure it's correctly aligned; otherwise, it won't start filling up the battery.
At the very least, the package is small and clean, with no extra space, paper, or room - all you need is the reading material, the Band 5, and the charging accessories. You should use your cable if the one in the box is too small for you. The cable is USB-A to micro USB with no fancy charging.
Battery:
The Honor Band 5 is expected to last up to 14 days, but we couldn't quite get it to work. You'll get about five days if you turn off the alerts and allow the device to just show you the time or calculate your heart rate.
Anything must be turned off, including all computers, alarms, and links, to achieve one charge every two weeks. All you're left with is a computer that involves contact to run, which isn't the purpose of these trackers.
Features:
Honor has the advantage of being a subsidiary of the parent organization. The Band is linked to your Huawei account through the Health app, which displays beautiful visualizations of all the data collected, including heart rate, different exercises, and moves.
Band 5 can track ten different types of movements, but it's tailored for the average person who needs to know something about his or her body and how it works. Expect heavy nonstop tracking; there are more professional smartwatches on the market, but they are considerably more costly.
Apart from that, Band 5 functions similarly to every other low-cost smart band: it displays alerts, buzzes when you set an alert, and displays the time when you lift your hand. Since the OLED is very light and the motion detector is working faster than it should, you can sometimes find yourself in a dark room with a turned-on phone, distracting the person next to you.
There is a light setting, but even at the lowest setting, it is still just too vivid, so be prepared for the odd blinding glare in the middle of the night if you only want to check the time and see if you can relax for another five minutes.
