While the WWE has had a mixed history with its recent wrestling-themed video games, including a poor reception to WWE 2K 2020 and subsequent shift to a different kind of title with WWE 2K Battlegrounds, the mobile game WWE Undefeated has seemingly been a success since it launched last December. Developed by nWay, also responsible for Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, WWE Undefeated has made it a point to add "superstars and legends" to its roster, recently revealing Braun Strowman.

The next character coming to the mobile game is Andre Rene Roussimoff, better known as Andre the Giant. He was revealed today via a trailer in an exclusive story by ComicBook before being advertised on WWE Undefeated's social media channels. Luckily, wrestling fans won't have to wait long to try out the legendary French wrestler's moves, as he will be available starting Friday, February 26.

Also called the "Eighth Wonder of the World," Roussimoff died of a heart attack related to his lifelong medical condition, acromegaly, in 1993. He was known both for his high-profile status as a WWE wrestler and an actor, notably portraying Fezzik the giant in classic 1987 film The Princess Bride.

Andre the Giant's likeness is still controlled by the licensing agent CMG Worldwide, according to his website. The group says it is "dedicated to maintaining and developing a positive brand image for our client."

Fans of Andre the Giant only have to wait a few days before they get their hands on his powerhouse character in the WWE mobile game. Roussimoff is not the only high-profile sports icon whose likeness lives on in the realm of video games. Earlier this month it was revealed that MLB The Show 21 will have a Collector's Edition featuring Jackie Robinson, the African American baseball player who broke the color barrier by playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

When it comes to sports video games, the WWE games have always fit in a peculiar space between simulation and arcade experience. It speaks to the nature of the company's productions, as each WWE show combines elements of incredible athleticism with sometimes overh-the-top showmanship. Considering how many WWE games have been produced over the years, there's usually a pretty good balance of entertainment and authenticity that keeps fans coming back whenever a new game releases.

Like many long-running series however, not every WWE game has been created equally. There have been some standout releases over the years that have cemented themselves as the definitive wrestling video game experiences. But on the other side of things, there have been some WWE games in the past that have left many players wondering what went wrong. If there's one thing that a lot of fans know, it's that the WWE has had some high and low points, and the games are no exception to this.

Games that fall into this tier are nearly unplayable, often being cursed with game-breaking glitches that make playing the game a truly miserable experience, or simply deliver an all-around subpar experience. One such game that fits this description perfectly is the glitchy WWE 2K20, which launched with a slew of issues that made enjoying a match nearly impossible.
