One of Square Enix’s old titles SaGa Frontier is getting a remastered version, and will be launched in the market for various platforms soon. With what seems like a way to entice old fans and newcomers to try out one of the company’s classic role-playing games, the development team recently released a new gameplay trailer that teases what players will experience when they finally get their hands on the title.

The rerelease of SaGa Frontier Remastered was first announced late November 2020, with the launch date slated for the middle of 2021. In the 1990s version for the original PlayStation, the sci-fi RPG puts players in the shoes of seven different main characters, with each protagonist having a different story to tell. The setting of the game spans across several regions, and the gameplay was mostly non-linear, allowing players to explore and interact with a variety of locations and characters without a lot of limitation.

In the gameplay trailer released by Square Enix, the developers share that a new eighth playable character named Fuse has been added into SaGa Frontier Remastered. Crazy Fuse is a detective from the IRPO who investigates strange happenings, and uses non-traditional methods to solve mysteries. His new story delves into what might have happened in the original game, if he was already part of the player's party roster.

There will also be additional scenes added into the game, ones that did not make it to the original 1990s version. This gives long-time fans a chance to discover something new about the title which may not have been so obvious back in the day. With SaGa Frontier Remastered releasing this April 2021, fans will not have to wait long to explore the solar system of The Regions once again.

Square Enix seems to be on the trend of remaking and remastering many of its classic games such as SaGa Frontier, and another popular PS1 title Legend of Mana. Hopefully this bodes well for other older games that fans are clamoring for the company to bring to modern gaming platforms.

Who doesn't love a good RPG? Players have been adventuring and roleplaying through games in the genre for countless years. One of the more unique series of games in the SaGa series which had some of its games released in the west as Final Fantasy Legend.

Some of these games were massive hits upon their original release and others have been relegated to the shadows where they are best forgotten. For those looking to pick up the series, it can be good knowing which ones are well-reviewed by fans and critics alike to find a good starting point.

An expansive story following seven different characters may sound like a lot of fun, but in the end, it made Unlimited SaGa's story hard to follow. It's the kind of game that feels like Square was attempting to add in tons of depth purely to make the game deep and not to enhance its gameplay. A lot of reviewers and fans said it made the game confusing and difficult to get into.
