While there has been no shortage of rumors about the highly anticipated Battlefield 6, a majority touch on its futuristic setting. However, Battlefield 6 may be taking a small bit of inspiration from its World War 2 predecessor, as Battlefield V’s cut crash landing feature could be making a comeback.

Crash landings were first shown off inside Battlefield 5’s controversial reveal trailer. In the footage, a pilot can be seen crashing their plane into the ground, with the terrain around them changed due to the impact of the crash. Aside from providing a neat bit of change to the environment, pilots would have to exit the destroyed vehicle. A unique animation would play as they made their escape from the wreckage, though players would be vulnerable to enemy attacks as they disembarked.
In a thread started by KarterAM0309 on the Battlefield 6 subreddit, fans were discussing whether the scrapped feature should be brought back to add to the quality of Battlefield 6’s destruction. In the thread, there are a mixture of responses, with some seeing crash landings as unnecessary and others wanting to see the feature incorporated for the sake of realism. However, regardless of whether players do or do not want crash landings, they could very well be coming based on Tom Henderson’s reply to the thread.
Proven to be reputable in the past, Henderson has leaked several things about the game thus far. Whether it be Battlefield 6’s lack of faction-based multiplayer, its odd use of a robot dog, or improvements to destruction, the leaker has been the primary source for info on the game thus far. Instead of commenting on the debate in the thread, however, Henderson uses a check mark emoji to respond to its question of “crash landings?” A clear sign of confirmation that the game will include the feature, it will be interesting to see how it works in Battlefield 6’s rumored modern setting.

However, it seems like Battlefield 6 fans will not need to wait until launch to see one of the game’s crash landings in action. According to Henderson, one of these crashes is going to be shown in the reveal trailer for Battlefield 6. In response to a fan named @ZmAn3322 on Twitter, the leaker claims that an Osprey can be seen crashing “onto some soldiers” at one point in the trailer. This moment seemingly hints that a potential positive of the feature could see pilots steering their vehicles into groups of enemies as they crash, picking up a few kills on the way down.
With leakers other than Henderson suggesting that the first trailer for Battlefield 6 is coming next week, fans could be seeing this Osprey crash take place in just a few more days. As always, though, rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, and fans should not expect crash landings until they are officially confirmed.
