Resident Evil Village is now less than two weeks away from release, fueling the hype and anticipation for the upcoming next-installment to survival horror franchise. As expected, Capcom released another playable demo that gives players a limited time of 30 minutes to explore the castle part of the game. Given that the Castle Demo is available for both PS5 and PS4 users, some players were able to compare the performance of each version, and unsurprisingly enough, the differences are huge.

In a video by YouTube channel ElAnalistaDeBits, an in-depth technical analysis of Resident Evil Village's Castle demo was performed on the PS4 and PS5. As expected, the game ran much faster on the newer console, with the demo taking mere 3 seconds to load on the PS5. In comparison, the demo took 30 seconds to load on both the PS4 and PS4 Pro, proving that the PS5 could load the demo 10 times faster than its predecessors. Additionally, several of the PS5's other features, such as 3D audio, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers, are well-integrated into the game.

Even though Nintendo hasn't manufactured a console in its Game Boy line since 2005's Game Boy Micro, the popularity of the systems never really waned. In 2021 alone, there have been several new games designed by enthusiasts and released for the console, and other fans have designed everything from a custom steampunk Game Boy to vibrant, synthwave Miami Vice style Game Boys. However it seems no one ever thought to take the portable console and blow it up to ten times its original size; that is, until YouTuber Grumpy Modeler came along.
Apart from the faster performance, the PS5 version of Resident Evil Village's Castle demo also showcased the ray-tracing feature of the latest console. This is evident in the well reflected and well-lighted environment of the demo on the PS5 as compared to the lower resolution displayed by both the PS4 and PS4 Pro. Of course, the faster performance and better visuals will provide players with an extra level of immersion that heightens Resident Evil Village's fear factor.
All of the bells and whistles that players will see in Resident Evil Village for the PS5 are made possible by the console's beefier internals such as custom CPU, GPU, and SSD with Integrated I/O. When Capcom first announced Resident Evil Village, it only intended the game to be released on the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. However, the studio had a change of heart at some point during development, and announced that the game would also release on last-gen consoles alongside Google Stadia.

For players wondering whether Capcom is planning to release the demo outside the PlayStation ecosystem, the studio revealed several weeks ago that both the Village and Castle demos would be launched to all platforms soon. Both demos will be released on May 1 at 5 PM PT for players residing in North America. On the other hand, European players will get access on May 2 at 2 AM CEST.
