Pokemon GO - When Are Team GO Rocket Encounters Coming Back
Just a month ago many Pokemon GO fans were looking to the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite side of the Niantic fanbase and feeling relieved that PoGO was having a normal March, while Wizards Unite had to delay all of its major events by two full weeks. An update eventually fixed the issue and Niantic was able to rollout an abridged events calendar for the second half of the month. In a surprise turn of events this April, Pokemon GO fans are now the ones waiting for a rush update to unlock an important feature to them.
It's been over a week since Niantic decided to temporarily disable Team GO Rocket encounters because of an issue associated with them and the community, particularly endgame PoGO players, have been eagerly awaiting their return. Battling Team GO Rocket is one of the most exciting parts of the game for some Pokemon GO players and, beyond that, it's a required task for leveling up beyond 44. Although a fix hasn't arrived yet, Niantic did just reveal some additional information.
An update to Pokemon GO's known issues log has revealed that a fix seems to have been found for the issue. It may surprise players though to find out that it's going to require a client side update to make the fix before Team GO Rocket encounters can be reactivated. The update moved the issue from the "Investigating" status to "Fixed in an upcoming update."
Issue description: Sometimes, when a Trainer initiates a battle with Team GO Rocket, the game will freeze and become unresponsive. This issue has been mitigated by removing Team GO Rocket encounters temporarily until this can be resolved.
There is still no release date for the update, but hopefully it will be launched soon. Trainers should keep an eye here and on the official channels for updates on how the fix is going to be rolled out. Trainers should also prepare for the possibility that there may be a short window between the release and when Team GO Rocket reappears in the game. It's not confirmed that the update and the return of the encounters will happen simultaneously.
