Sony introduced the PlayStation Play at Home program in 2020 as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The idea was simple: give PlayStation gamers some free games to encourage them to stay home and hopefully reduce the spread of the virus. The world is still grappling with COVID-19 in 2021, and so Sony has brought the PlayStation Play at Home program back, but this time it's much bigger in scope than it was before.

Sony gave away two free games for the PlayStation Play at Home program in 2020, but at the time of this writing, there's a whopping 10 games that PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 gamers can claim for their digital collections. This includes the 2016 Ratchet & Clank game, which is available to claim until March 31 at 8pm PT, as well as nine other games that were added to the PlayStation Play at Home program on March 25 at 8pm PT.

The nine games added to the PlayStation Play at Home program on March 25 are a mix of popular indie games and PlayStation VR titles. Fans have until April 22nd at 8 pm PT to claim them, so there's a bit more time than Ratchet & Clank. Regardless, there are 10 games currently available through the PlayStation Play at Home program that gamers on PS4 and PS5 can claim right now.

The 10 games Sony is giving away consist of some of the highest-rated PS4 games released to date. Astro Bot Rescue Mission is one of the most critically-acclaimed virtual reality games ever made, whereas Ratchet & Clank is one of the most popular 3D platformers on the system. The Witness also earned quite a bit of critical acclaim when it was originally released.

There will be many more PlayStation Play at Home bonuses for fans to look forward to in the months ahead. Horizon Zero Dawn will be free for PlayStation gamers starting on April 19 at 8pm PT and will be available to claim until May 14 at 8pm PT. There will likely be other free games made available through the program as well, though Sony has yet to provide any details at the time of this writing.

It's possible that there will be other bonuses for PlayStation Play at Home besides just free games. Sony has already extended Funimation free trials for new subscribers, and so it will be interesting to see what else PlayStation fans have to look forward to.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sony launched the PlayStation Play at Home program in 2020. The concept of the program was simple: give away high quality PlayStation games as an incentive for people to stay home and play video games instead of going out in public and potentially spreading the coronavirus. The PlayStation Play at Home program in 2020 was met with a great deal of praise from fans, which is no surprise since Sony gave away heavy hitters like Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey.

One year later, the world is still grappling with COVID-19, and the advice from health officials is still for people to stay home as much as they possibly can. As a result, Sony has decided to bring back the PlayStation Play at Home program for 2021, though it's going to be much larger in scale this time around. For 2021, Sony is giving away bonuses like extended Funimation trials on top of giving players a lot more free games.
