Monster Hunter Rise is the latest entry in Capcom's long-running action-RPG series and it recently launched for the Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021. While the title takes a lot of inspiration from Monster Hunter: World and its Iceborne expansion, Monster Hunter Rise makes many changes to the formula that are not only exciting for veterans but also make things easier for newcomers.

Thanks to neat new features such as Wyvern Riding and Wirebugs, Monster Hunter Rise has been successful so far in terms of sales and critical reception. Many critics have been praising the game's quality-of-life changes, the abundance of monsters, and the seamless multiplayer integration. With a current score of 87 on Metacritic from over 80 outlets and the fact that the game has shipped over 4 million units worldwide already, it's safe to say that the game has been a triumph for Capcom.

And it turns out that the vast majority of those units have actually come from Japan, the homeland of Nintendo and Capcom. According to a recent physical game software and hardware sales report from Famitsu for the week of March 22, 2021, to March 28, 2021, Monster Hunter Rise managed to sell a whopping 1,302,132 units and was the best-selling game of that time frame by a large margin. Rise doesn't quite reach the same heights of Monster Hunter: World's release back in 2018, but it certainly comes close. World, being a PS4 and Xbox One title, launched in Japan in 2018 and managed to hit 1.5 million units in just three days.

For the list of the top ten best-selling software for the week, gamers can find the info below. The first number is the sales from the week, and the second number is the total lifetime sales of the game:

And the list below is the top-selling hardware for the same period. As anyone can see, there was a huge spike for Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite consoles, no doubt due to the launch of Monster Hunter Rise. The series is known to sell exceptionally well in Japan and this title is no different. With Switch and Switch Lite combined, there were almost 270,000 Switch consoles sold.

As Monster Hunter Rise begins to get its first couple of title updates this year, there's no doubt that the game will continue to pick up steam in terms of sales. In March, Capcom revealed that the first update would be coming in late April and will add Apex Rathalos, Chameleos, and the Hunter Rank will be unlocked.

Many people joined the Monster Hunter series with Monster Hunter: World and they will recognize Tobi-Kadachi when they play Monster Hunter Rise. However, they may be a little surprised by Tobi-Kadachi's increased aggressiveness. With that being said, here are some things to keep in mind when fighting Tobi-Kadachi in Monster Hunter Rise.

Before players head off to fight Tobi-Kadachi they will want to make sure they bring the appropriate gear. As Tobi-Kadachi uses thunder element attacks, players will want to have armor that resists thunder. If their best armor set does not have high thunder resistance then eating Dango at the canteen for thunder resistance is also a good idea if possible. Unlike Monster Hunter: World, nullberries are not necessary to cure thunderblight. Players can just continually roll until it goes away, but nullberries can definitely be faster.
