The final update for Fortnite Season 5 has launched, adding bug fixes and bringing back a fan-favorite weapon. After quite a bit of downtime, the update launched today at 4:00 a.m. ET and includes new content for the Fortnite Creative Hub. The update also leaks a number of limited-time modes and some details about the end of season live event, which may turn out to be one of the most unique events yet.

The Rapid Fire SMG is coming back to Fortnite in the new 15.50 patch. The weapon was originally introduced in Season 2 with only Uncommon and Rare variants, before adding Common, Epic, and Legendary variants in Season 3. After only being available for those two seasons, the Rapid Fire SMG was vaulted in Season 4. Now, with only around two weeks left in Season 5, the Rapid Fire SMG is making its way back into the weapon pool.

The Rapid Fire SMG is a deadly short-ranged weapon that can be used to quickly take opponents down with its 20-shot magazine for the Common, Uncommon, and Rare variants, and a 26-shot magazine for the Epic and Legendary variants. The Rapid Fire SMG also has a DPS ranging from 195 for the Common to 255 for the Legendary version. Paired with other short-range weapons with high damage output such as shotguns or the Hop Rock Dualies, the Rapid Fire SMG can cause some trouble for enemies.

Unfortunately, the unvaulting of the Rapid Fire SMG means that another weapon has been vaulted leading into Season 6. The Hand Cannon has been vaulted again, after replacing the Flint-Knock Pistol in the previous patch. The Hand Cannon has spent a lot of time in the vault, and after only being unvaulted for one patch, the heavy pistol will yet again be unavailable.

A number of LTMs have been leaked for the 15.50 patch as well. A new "Bodyguard" mode will be available in duos, trios, and squads. The LTM will task players to protect one member of the team, who will be unable to pick up weapons, will be marked for enemies, and will only have a Legendary Pistol to use. The Heavy Metal LTM will also be introduced, which will have normal battle royale rules, except all weapon loot will be from the heavy weapon category.

The patch will also add larger islands for the Fortnite Creative Hub, so players can now create large islands that measure 155x155 tile dimensions. Along with the large islands, there is also a bug fix for Fortnite on mobile devices to load Fortnite Creative.

Although Epic Games' massive battle royale Fortnite remains free-to-play, it recently debuted a paid subscription service referred to as "Fortnite Crew." Costing $12 USD per month, Fortnite Crew is an expanded version of the game's previous Battle Pass system which features all-new goodies for Fortnite players.

The Battle Pass, which allows players to level up and earn rewards by winning battles and completing in-game objectives, remains present, but can now be purchased alongside a Crew subscription. Previously, a Battle Pass cost $9.50 USD per month. This may be in response to fans previously criticizing the "grindy" nature of the Battle Pass.
