In the latest issue of DC Comics' The Flash, Wally West gets the chance to live the life of Jay Garrick, and it's revealed that the original Flash has something truly epic in common with Marvel Comics' Captain America. While it's long been known that both heroes fought in WWII and served their countries with their remarkable abilities, the new reveal is made in this issue that Garrick once punched his version of Adolf Hitler in the face, just like Captain America, seeing Jay joining an exclusive club of epic superheroes who stuck it to the Axis powers in one of the most iconic ways possible.

In The Flash #770 - from Jeremy Adams, Jack Herbert, Brandon Peterson, Kevin Maguire, Michael Atiyeh, and Steve Wands - Wally West continues his journey through the Speed Force, "plugging" anomalies and preventing surges despite his wish to retire as a speedster. Right as Barry Allen was about to remove Wally's speed, he was whisked off to help fix the damaged Speed Force, being taken to the prehistoric era as well as the future. In each different era he visits, his consciousness is put into the body of an existing speedster, such as a cro-magnon speedster and Barry's grandson Impulse. Now, Wally has been put into the body of the original Flash Jay Garrick, facing a super-powered Hitler armed with the Spear of Destiny.

Thankfully, Barry Allen and Mr. Terrific have found a way to communicate with Wally through the Speed Force from the present, helping him find solutions before he's sent to yet another time period. This time, Barry gets the idea to call the still living Jay to get any insights from his time during WWII. However, all that Jay could remember is that he punched Hitler in the face. Sure enough, when Hitler tries to control Wally's mind with the Spear of Destiny, Jay's consciousness emerges long enough for him to sock Adolf in the jaw before Wally takes over once more.

Thankfully, Wally was able to use the Spear to contain the massive Speed Force explosion that inevitably came from Hitler, which presumedly de-powered the Führer while also fixing the damage to the Speed Force in this era. Once the day had been saved, Wally was pulled to yet another time and speedster, leaving Jay to wake up very confused - though still possessing the claim to fame of punching Hitler in the face, just like Captain America did on the cover of his first ever issue back in 1941.

While Wally's current journey has taken him to some pretty dynamic locales and times, landing in WWII in the body of Jay Garrick in his prime is definitely the most epic thus far. Furthermore, the original Flash and Captain America now have something amazing in common as superheroes. However, it looks as though Wally West's adventure to restore the Speed Force is far from over, as he's now in the body of the Reverse-Flash with the Legion of Doom! It looks like a Flash's work is never done, even when they want to retire.
