Of all the unexpected cottage industries to pop up in the last few years, video game soundtracks being pressed on vinyl records has to be one at the top of the list. However, from Nintendo's Earthbound pressing to the gorgeous Red Dead Redemption Housebuilding EP, it seems the trend is here to stay. Demon's Souls fans will be glad it has, as the popular role playing game is now getting its own vinyl soundtrack release.

The soundtrack is pressed on two beautiful golden discs, similar in color to the Gears 5 vinyl album that came out early last year. The artwork for the new vinyl was created by Ken Taylor and features the Maiden in Black on the front cover. The inside cover of the new pressing opens into an expansive gatefold that displays etched symbols in the same vibrant gold as the records themselves.

21 songs from Demon's Souls are spread across the two records and should be instantly recognizable to fans of the action game. The recordings included in this vinyl release are the updated versions that were initially made when the game transitioned from the PlayStation 3 to the PS5, all composed by Shunsuke Kida.

Unfortunately, the Demon's Souls vinyl soundtrack is already sold out, so fans hoping to grab it for the $30 price tag are currently out of luck. However, Silent Hill and The Last of Us both got rereleased on vinyl after the initial pressings sold out, so all hope is not lost. For fans who did manage to snag a copy of the album before Milan Records ran out of stock, the LP is expected to ship at some point in June.

When the PlayStation 5 launched, it did so with a library mostly consisting of cross-generational games that were also available on PS4. One exception to that rule was the Demon's Souls remake from Bluepoint Games, a PS5 exclusive that vastly improves the graphics of the PS3 original and makes a host of other quality of life changes. It stands as the highest-rated PlayStation 5 exclusive game, and it will likely hold that title for some to come.

With the Demon's Souls remake on PS5 being one of the console's most highly-regarded games, some would say it wouldn't make sense for Sony to add it to the free PS Plus lineup. And at this exact moment, it wouldn't make sense for Sony to do so. However, at some point down the line, the Demon's Souls remake would actually make for the perfect PlayStation Plus game, and there are some big reasons for why that is.

Due to supply constraints brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, semiconductor shortages, and unprecedented demand, it has been incredibly difficult for many people to get their hands on a PlayStation 5 console. While PS5s sell out immediately, it seems a great deal of these consoles are actually going to re-sellers who are going to try to re-sell them at a marked-up price. This is reflected by the PS5's software sales, which indicate that many people who buy a PS5 aren't actually buying games along with it.

This in turn has created an issue where a game like Demon's Souls doesn't appear to be quite as well-populated as it should be. While this is merely anecdotical evidence, there are many stories online of people trying to enjoy Demon's Souls' online functionality, but having to wait around for extended periods of time because no one is bothering to summon them into their game.
