Call of Duty Zombies Fan Shares Stunning Ray Gun Drawing
Since Call of Duty Zombies first appeared in 2008, the Ray Gun has followed the Survival mode and those who play it. As such, it seems fitting that Redditor and Call of Duty Zombies fan Zachawee made it the focus of a special art piece.
The Ray Gun’s lengthy history has been well-documented, with the weapon’s origins being just as unique as its overall design. Featuring in campaign easter eggs, Zombies maps, internet memes, and everything in between, the original Wonder Weapon is one of the most recognizable items in the Call of Duty franchise. Having an awesome reload animation, standout noises, and a flashy exterior, the single-handed weapon has appeared in every Treyarch game since Call of Duty: World at War.
While there have been several variants of the Ray Gun, such as the stronger Ray Gun Mark 2 and the interesting Ray Gun Mark 3, artist Zachawee seems particularly attached to the basic version of the weapon. Showing off an art piece that likely took several hours to create, the Redditor’s take on the classic weapon is genuinely gorgeous. Pulled off using only pens and some black ink, the only thing missing from the Redditor’s art piece is the Ray Gun’s signature red color scheme.

The glowing, exposed interior of the gun can be seen clearly, as can the gauge and the special sights on the back of the weapon. The bolts of electricity on both the top of the Ray Gun and its barrel are kept intact, showing Zachawee’s eye for detail clearly. With the handguard and side switch also included, this incredible artwork proved popular with fans almost instantly.
Currently sitting at over 5,000 upvotes, the post is filled to the brim with comments asking for a print. While it is unclear if the artist will sell prints of their work, this post is the latest in a recent string of creative pieces shared on the subreddit. Replicas of other weapons like the Thundergun and Wunderwaffe DG-2 have also been shared, while a fan-made commercial for the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War perks also made the rounds. With Call of Duty Zombies’ perk cans also brought to life by fans of the mode, it will be interesting to see what the community comes up with next.
With the original Ray Gun still standing tall as one of the best Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies weapons, it is worthy of all the love it gets from fans. While other Call of Duty Zombies Wonder Weapons have been better, none of them will ever be as iconic as the classic Ray Gun.
In recent weeks, Call of Duty Zombies fans have been given some good news from the reputable leaker Tom Henderson. Not only will Zombies supposedly be treated like more than a third game mode in the future, but Henderson has teased that big things are on the way via a standalone Zombies game. With fans wanting to see the mode become a larger focus for years, the hype around this unofficial tease is certainly understandable.
While a standalone Call of Duty Zombies title would undoubtedly do well, one thing can truly make it excel. Alongside other must-have features like map remasters and the return of original, fully voiced characters, seeing a bigger focus on custom maps than ever before could give the game an incredibly long life cycle. With skilled creators provided with the ability to constantly add fresh maps to the game, the Zombies community could keep this standalone game alive for years after its release.
