New critters have arrived on islands and in the seas for Animal Crossing: New Horizons players to catch, thanks to the start of a new month. March introduces several fascinating sea creatures for players to dive for and donate to Blathers in the museum, including the massive spider crab for Northern Hemisphere players, and the chambered nautilus and umbrella octopus for both hemispheres.

To dive for sea creatures, players will first need to buy and don a wetsuit from Nook’s Cranny. Since these aquatic critters were added several months after Animal Crossing: New Horizons' launch in March 2020, some players may have quite a few sea creatures missing. Once players have done a bit of diving, they may want to dry off and grab a net to catch some of the new bugs that have arrived in March.

All the new sea creatures for March in both hemispheres are listed below, along with when to catch each creature, the size and speed of its silhouette in the water, and how much it is worth in bells. Players should remember to give Pascal the red otter the first scallop they find in exchange for a DIY recipe and some sage advice, and sell any bonus ones they find on their dives.

Northern Hemisphere players will definitely want to try and get the gigantic spider crab, not only for its rarity but also its 12,000-bell selling price. Donate the first catch to Blathers but sell any extra ones to Timmy and Tommy over at Nook’s Cranny for a nice bag of bells. Also, any players wanting to get their hands on a firefly squid may be up late into the night as it is a nocturnal creature that can only be caught from 9 pm to 4 am.

Meanwhile, Southern Hemisphere players should generally have a better time catching sea creatures and filling out their Critterpedia entries since most of March’s creatures swim slowly and most are available all day. Any Southern Hemisphere players that complete their diving objectives should also check out the eight new fish that have arrived that they may not already have, including the extremely valuable golden trout and the sturgeon.

Yesterday, a player of Animal Crossing: New Horizon posted a notable dialogue that was prompted in the game to congratulate them for their birthday on a leap year. The game developers made sure to acknowledge the gamers' birthdays in the game by adding a congratulatory dialogue. Unfortunately, people born on February 29th do not always get congratulations in games or apps on their birthday unless it is a leap year. Because leap day birthdays are usually overlooked, details such as the one in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are greatly appreciated by users.

This Nintendo game has been known for adding unique dialogues for special occasions and for paying attention to small details which have made fans appreciate Animal Crossing even more. For instance, players who have birthdays on Christmas have also reported that their birthdays were acknowledged instead of being ignored because of the holidays.
