In celebration of Mario Day on March 10, Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched a Mario Mission where players can win Mario-themed pins for free. To enter for a chance to win the pins, players will have to complete a task in Animal Crossing: New Horizons by later this month, as well as other objectives.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons had its first collaboration with Super Mario recently by bringing a number of Super Mario items to the game, including Princess Peach's Crown, Mario and Luigi's Hats, the iconic green Pipe, and the Goal Pole. Some players have come up with creative ways to use the items, especially the Pipes, such as one player who made a functional subway system on their island. This collaboration also bodes well for other possible Animal Crossing crossovers, such as one with Legend of Zelda items and characters that fans have been requesting for some time.

To participate in Animal Crossing's Mario Mission, players will first need to make sure their copy of New Horizons is updated and able to go online as they'll be traveling to another island for the event. After that, go to a bed inside the player's home and sleep to get a visit from the NPC Luna, and when speaking to her, enter the Dream Address DA-6382-1459-4417.

After doing so, players will be taken to the official Nintendo New Horizons island, which is the end of the mission. However, in order to be eligible to win the Mario pin set, a number of other missions also need to be completed. Players can go to the Nintendo website to check out the other missions and keep track of how many they've completed.

Some of the other missions include making purchases, such as buying the popular Nintendo title Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, while others are more simple, such as playing a mini-game in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, a free mobile spinoff of the Animal Crossing franchise. Another easier task requires fans to find 5 hidden stickers on the Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury website.

This specific Mario mission lasts until March 24 at 7:59 PM PT, but players should receive the credit for completing the challenge within a week after the event is over. The credit will allow players to redeem the collective Super Mario 35th Anniversary pin set after completing enough missions.

But if players don't want to go through the trouble of completing the many challenges, players can continuously celebrate Super Mario's 35th birthday with the Super Mario items in New Horizons.

Since the promotion was announced last year, Nintendo has been clear that the various Super Mario anniversary products currently on sale will be removed by the end of March. The celebratory event brought several popular releases to stores, including a remastered collection of some of the mascot's most iconic games and a unique battle royale experience that could be played by 35 Mario fans at a time.

Regardless of the news drawing criticism online, it seems Nintendo isn't backing down from its initial decision, reiterating through a tweet that it will be removing the 35th Anniversary products later this month. "With the end of the campaign, the production, sales and services of some products will also end," reads a rough translation of the post, confirming that the clock is ticking on some of Mario's most notable recent releases. The statement was later backed up by Nintendo's website, which posted more details on what would happen to the individual anniversary products.
