Eight Songs That Provide Insight Into Upcoming Book Of Poems From Lou Reed

As winter finally gives way to spring and you start looking for something to read, try Lou Reed. A book of poetry written by the late music artist has been published, and it will be made available in April.

Issued by Anthology Works the book, which is titled Do Angels Need Haircuts?, will contain verse written in the late Sixties and early Seventies when Reed was a member of the Velvet Underground. All but two of the poems have never before been published, and many of them are available on a CD being recited by Reed himself.

Long time fans of Lou Reed will certainly appreciate the new volume, but few will be surprised by the fact that the singer wrote poetry. All one needs to do is take a glimpse into his discography to find snippets of exquisite poetry in the lyrics of his many songs, such as the hit "Walk On the Wild Side" or the ephemeral "Perfect Day."
